New Year's Eve

- woke up @ 10:30am, got ready, booked us a second night in a different room, took motor scooter to laundry and 7 eleven, called Marcus
- drove back to room, we all left @ 12:45pm, back to Chewang Road
- ate lunch @ Indian restaurant, had Haagen Daz
- went on internet, then went to Chewang Beach
- not sunny at all
- went back to hotel, Bri and Judith napped while I read
- left hotel @ 9:15pm, motor scooter to Lamai beach area, didn't go to beach but the strip was packed full of bars and lady boys!
- took a tuk tuk to Chewang, ate @ Japanese/Thai restaurant until 11:45pm
- walked to beach for fireworks, no countdown
- partied at house/hip hop club until 3am
- went to 7 eleven, then hotel, slept @ 6am

No place to stay?!

- missed our 9:30am boat to Samui, got ticket changed to 10:30am boat
- stopped in Ko Phangan, Bri almost didn't get his backpack because we got off the boat almost too late
- arrived in Ko Samui @ 1pm, took long, packed tuk tuk ride to Chewang Beach
- Judith and I looked for place for 45 mins, no luck, we all ate lunch
- Bri went to look for places while Judith and I waited at the Indian restaurant
- Bri came back after 4 hours of searching! he walked, took a taxi, and eventually rented a motor scooter
- Galaxy Resort @ Lamai, 20 mins from Chewang (600 Baht/night/room, one room), squished on a double bed
- Bri brought me first and then picked Judith up after
- after settling in we went back to Chewang Road, went to Haagen Daz, I bought 2 hats (950 Baht)
- we went bowling, I won first game, Bri won second game (200 Baht from each loser)

Scuba Diving?

- woke up late for boat!
- I didn't reset the alarm properly!
- we rushed and made it
- go to Ko Tao @ 10:30/11am
- found out scuba diving was too expensive and took up too many days
- Bri looked for a hotel, we stayed at some restaurant and waited
- had lunch, went on internet, booked boat to Ko Samui, took nap, ate dinner and watched Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason
- walked the small town strip, decided to watch Stepford Wives @ 9:30pm
- tummy hurt and throat hurt after

Day of rest

- ate lunch, Judith went back to clinic, Bri and I searched for flip flops and an alarm clock, then went on the internet
- finished my book while Bri and Judith played frisbee on the beach
- played with them for a bit, Bri and Judith dumped eachother in the water
- walked town, bought full moon shirt for Marcus
- Bri and Judith looked for the other beach, while I went hom to shower
- booked boat to Ko Tao for 8:30am
- played connect four then went to bed

Feeling Numb

- Mike and I went back to our room to shower and so that he could pack. I went back to the clinic to give Bri his contacts @ 9:30am
- slept for 2 hours in the clinic. Bri, Judith and I ordered lunch from the clinic
- Mike came to say good-bye
- Judith was released at about 5pm, Bri and Jud showered back in our room
- ate dinner and tried to watch Ocean's 12 and then got a foot massage
- called home, Marc, Michael, Nancy, and Michelle

Tsunami, Full Moon Party - An already bad day gone worse

- got up at 10am, found out @ breakfast on CNN about the earthquake/tsunami that hit Sri Lanka, India, Malaysia and Thailand!
- read my book, went on the beach
- Bri bought frisbee and banig
- Mike got another henna tattoo and had his other ones redone
- called home to tell them about the tsunami, called Marc
- ate buffet dinner @ 7:30pm, chilled in our room until 11pm, Cindy and Justin met us in our room
- started drinking, went to Vinyl Club, danced there for a while, Judith went to the bathroom, I decided to take off, then we all ended up splitting up
- I went to one side of the beach, saw Bri @ the hip hop club, left after a while, went to our room to use the washroom
- went to Vinyl and other clubs, it started raining, I went to the other end of the beach then went back to our room to use the washroom again
- our room was locked from outside, but when I went in Judith was on the floor, thought she was super drunk, while in the washroom I heard her puking, came out and she had puked and was crying
- she told me what happened: she went to the washroom after seeing Marvin, when she got back she had a sip of Marvin's bucket while he was in the washroom, when he came back she was passed out on the sand. She remembers someone touching her but doesn't know who it was
- Bri got to the room after 30 mins, then 20 mins later Marvin shows up, and then Mike came soon after.
- I was scared so I went to get help, went to police station, they called the ambulance and 5 people came to our room to get Judith on a stretcher
- Mike went to look for me, so I sent Bri to go with Judith, but when MIke came back to the room, we ran to the ambulance and hopped on
- they gave Judith medicine from the IV to flush out the drug

Merry Christmas!

- took the truck to our 8am ferry to Krabi
- took luxury bus to bus station and ate lunch
- hopped on 12pm luxury bus headed to the next ferry station to Ko Phangan
- ferry stopped in Ko Samui, we got off thinking that we had to go on another one to get to Ko Phangan, but we didn't
- hopped back on the same ferry
- arrived @ 7:30pm, took taxi 30 mins to Sea View Bungalows to visit Cindy - she wasn't there
- we freaked out cuz we didn't know if we were going to find a place to stay
- we got lucky, the place next to Sea View had 3 people checking out because they were sick
- Palita Lodge (800 Baht/night/room, one room - 300 Baht buffet)
- ate dinner, Bri got sick and my tummy hurt too so I stayed @ the restaurant to read while Mike and Judith walked the beach
- decided to walk the beach after a while, bumped into Mike and Jud partying @ the Vinyl Club
- Mike bought bucket drinks, Mike and Jud bought glow sticks
- I raved until 1:30am, Jud until 3am, Mike got back @ 6:30am

Spiked drinks!

- took packed long boat to ferry @ 8:30am to Ko Phi Phi (2 hrs), ferry to Ko Lanta (1.5 hours)
- truck to Riviera Resort (1000 Baht/night, one room - a/c hot shower)
- ate late lunch, jumped in the pool, then tanned on the beach
- we all got massages, I got more bruises (oil massage)
- we all showered and headed to the beach to find a bar to eat and drink at
- walked almost whole beach, but ended up eating at the place next to ours
- we had 4 drinks each, but Bri stopped after half of his 3rd drink
- we think Judith and Bri's drink #3 was spiked with shrooms or opium! they were high!
- Judith walked the beach while Bri went back to the room to trip out, I took pix of Mike playing a balloon popping game.
- I went to the room to pee and to get Bri
- we all went to look for Judith, didn't find her until an hour later
- we went into the water and hopped into an anchored long boat

Patong Beach

- used internet, booked one more night and ferry to Ko Phi Phi tomorrow and from Ko Phi Phi to Ko Lanta, rented 2 motor scooters
- ate lunch @ Bistro 70
- went to Patong beach by motor scooter
- tanned, ate 7-eleven snacks, Bri, Mike and I got henna tattoos
- watched break dancers, walked around to check out bars, ate dinner, went back to hotel to shower
- biked to 7-eleven and Mike and Bri ate noodle soup from a vendor

Rock climbing & Phuket

- went rock climbing with Cliffs Man from 9am - 1pm
- got back to Cowboy Inn @ 3pm
- took 3:30pm ferry to Phuket
- arrived @ 6:30pm, ate dinner 7pm
- found place, Holiday Plaza (300 Baht/night/room, 2 rooms - cold shower, fan)
- got foot massage while Bri dyed his hair again
- met Burnadette, owns Bistro 70, filipino food
- we ate there until 12 am until Bri was finished
- Bri's hair was dyed 4 times! Started stinging him badly!
- got laundgry done

Stressful morning!

- oh my god, we woke up late, have to mail our purchases home!
- took tuk-tuk to post office - it was busy, chanced it and went to the airport post office
- we were able to mail our boxes 6400 Baht for my big box, 550 Baht for sword sent economy air, less than 1 month to arrive
- flight was delayed, left @ 2:20pm, arrived in Bangkok @ 4:15pm
- took flight to Krabi @ 5:10pm
- stayed @ Cowboy Inn (1000 Baht/room, one room)
- ate dinner, Mike spat out his food
- went for Thai massage 250 Baht/person - NEVER AGAIN! SO MUCH PAIN!

Chiang Mai - even more shopping!!

- Bri and Judith woke up late, Mike and I went on internet and used phone
- ate lunch @ 2pm
- went for foot massage (200 Baht/hr)
- went shopping, CRAZY shopping! ate nothing for dinner
- organized purchases until 5am!

Chiang Mai - more shopping!

- switched rooms cuz of ants!
- ate lunch, went on internet
- booked tickets to fly to Bangkok and then Krabi @ 11am
- Bri and Mike got their hair dyed while Judith and I went shopping 6:30pm
- met boys at 10pm at McDonald's
- had dinner at the bar with the dancing girls/boys

Chiang Mai - shopping!

- woke up, went on internet, phoned home and Marc, ate lunch
- took bus at 3:30pm to Chiang Mai, arrived @ 6pm, looked for a place, ended up @ Orchid House (300 Baht/night/room, two rooms)
- started shopping at market at 9pm, we were overwhelmed!
- ate McDonald's at midnight EWWWWWW!

Kayaking

- breakfast, then went on kayaking tour @ 11:30am
- Dune was our guide, I doubled with him while Judith, Bri and Mike had their own kayaks
- Dune splashed everyone and then tipped me over off the kayak!
- after kayaking we brought our bikes back and waited for our bus to Pai (had snacks @ the Lemon House Restaurant)
- took 1.5 hour bus ride to Pai, road was curvy and very bumpy, also cold cuz the back door was open (30 Baht each)
- looked for a place to stay, ended up at the Villa de Pai (300 Baht/night/room, two rooms)
- had dinner, walked market and bought snacks
- played cards back at the guest house, Mike planted a fake bug in Judith's sleepsheet, they found it @ about 2am - funny!

Cave tour

- went on the 3 cave tour at 10am, trekked 1.5-2 hours to first cave (coffin cave), trekked another 20 mins to second cave (waterfall cave), 15 mins to fossil cave, which had a huge snake and spiders, we crawled through the mud and went through tight, tight cave holes
- Bri and I were miserable during the trek
- this was the dirtiest we've ever been
- got back to the Cave Lodge and took showers. Bri, Mike and Judith watched the bird/bat switch (birds fly in the caves to sleep, bats fly out of caves to play - vice versa in the morning) at 6pm while I showered and did laundry.
- when they got back, we headed to the bonfire pit and spoke to the other Farang (tourists), had some drinks then went to bed.

Sappong

- took the 12:30pm bus to Sappong, worst 2 hour bus ride. So bumpy and the road was way too curvy.
- rented 2 bikes and rode to the Cave Lodge, most beautiful place we've stayed at yet.
- ate dinner then headed to the Winter festival, very cold ride there.
- ate crispy crepes and watched Thai boxing. Both matches, one fighter forfeited.
- rode back to Cave Lodge

BBQ

- rode 2 hours on motorbikes back to Mae Hong Son. Crazy ride up and down the mountain
- took showers at Jonkham and took 2 rooms @ 100 Baht per room
- had drinks and pork BBQ with Noi and our motorbike drivers. Went to bar and danced because Boy was up on stage singing and playing guitar. Went to 7-eleven after bar
- talked to Chai about Muay Thai boxing in Soppong
- wanted to kill Mr. John, the fat, arrogant white fucker with the LISU girlfriend!
- Judith and Bri slept in the room next to Julian, the English nasty horker, heard him in my room 3 doors down, thought he was going to puke up his insides!

Trek

- late for trek, started @ 9:15am, supposed to start @ 8:30am
- our backpacks were way too heavy for this trek!
- rode elephants, Mike and I on one, Judith and Bri on another
- rode long boat to Karen (Kayan) village, saw the long necks and the children in school
- began trek, up and down hills and through the river(s)
- too many hills, we were all dying!!!
- got to the village after 4 hours of trekking and decided not to continue because we're wimps! Tomorrow is supposedly all uphill for 7 hours!
- we told our guide, Noi, that we couldn't continue, he was upset and disappointed but he called the tour office and let them know.
- we wrote a letter saying why we can't go on and promising that we do not want a refund
- we felt so bad because the workers that came along took 5 days off to come on this trek and needed to go to Pai, and since the trek was police registered the police knew our route and would fly helicopters to make sure we were on track and were all okay
- our sleep at night was terrible! We slept on the hard wooden floor and it was soooo cold and uncomfortable all night. I don't think we would have been able to do this for 3 more nights.
- our dinner was excellent! Don't know what it was, but we took a picture of it.
- I think tomorrow we will ride on the back of motorcycles and ride 2-3 hours back to Mae Hong Son with our backpacks on.

Motor scooter roadtrip

- booked 5 day trek with Jonkham guest house
- rented motor scooters (230 Baht)
- rode to fish cave, ate at Thai Food
- rode to Phasua waterfall
- rode to the spa and got body mud masks and went in mineral pool (400 Baht)
- headed back to hotel, got lost 3 times
- had dinner and packed for trek

Mae Hong Son

- arrived in Chiang Mai @ 11am
- went to Chiang Mai guest house to eat and book flight to Mae Hong Son
- took taxi to a mountain temple
- flew to Mae Hong Son @ 4:30pm
- arrived @ 5pm
- stayed @ Prince's Guest House (150 Baht/night/room, two rooms)
- went to night market
- ate @ fondue buffet (69 Baht/person)

Monkey temples

- spent another night at Asia Hotel (400 Baht/night, one room)
- visited the monkey temples, had lunch
- killed time before our train ride, went to Royal Palace, ate at palace festival
- took train @ 10:17pm

Tour

- went on a tour that Piak runs, went to the AIDS/HIV hospital (wasn't as informative and life changing as I thought it would be). Next we went to the sunflower field, then to the monastery where we met Monk Gordon, one of the Brown monks that broke off from the Golden Buddha monks. 300 monks living on 3000 acres of land. They help people with drug addictions and blame their addiction, not their religion. They believe that anyone can be cured of any/every disease because it's all in your mind. This place is called the Thamkrabok foundation. Website: www.thamkrabok.org.au. It started when 7 monks were praying up in the mountains. A young boy addicted to opium kept returning to them to ask for help to cure him of the addictions. They finally created a medicine made from 33 herbs, which made him vomit, and from this vomit they could find out what drug he was on and would create another medicine from it. the boy was cured. The boy's mother found out how and when she died, she left the monks her 3000 acres of land.
- after the tour we went to TAT to get info on Chiang Mai.
- then we had lunch (fish, spring rolls, prawn curry), then headed to 7-eleven for ice cream.
- Bri and Mike took a tuk-tuk to the New Town to get massages, only Bri got one.
- Judith and I went back to our hotel to get our massages, but I think they misunderstood us and they never came up to our rooms.
- when Bri and Mike got back, they gave us 45 minute massages.

Ayuthaya

- rented bicycles and rode to train station to find train to Chiang Mai - fully booked.
- took train to Lop Buri, check for train to Chiang Mai - still fully booked.
- walked to Asia Hotel (400 Baht, one room).
- ate at market and Whitehouse Restaurant, met Piak.

Bangkok

- arrived at Reno Hotel (1400 Baht, one room) at 2:30am
- Bri and Judith went to Canadian Embassy and Thai Immigration after we woke up, but never got Bri's visa
- I went with Mike to the post office, waited 2 hours for Bri and Jud
- Skytrain to Mo Chit, bus station to Ayuthaya
- stayed at P.U. Hotel in Ayuthaya (500 Baht, one room)

Stopover

- landed in Taipei, 7 hour stopover
- took taxi to Tai Mall, 300NT, ate KFC
-3 hour flight to Bangkok

Departure

- flight 10:40am from Vancouver
- 12 and a half hour flight
